Steve hails from New Zealand, part of the Scottish Diaspora, and has a magnificent talent for evoking emotions through his own and traditional songs about the struggle and pain of the Celtic people of the Scottish Highlands through the albums Sons of Somerled, Stone of Destiny, Highland Farewell and Legend. It feels as though he is telling history from firsthand experience; listen to any CD and you'll soon be after the rest.

Spinfield is an instrumental album.

Winter in Scotland: A Highland Christmas gives some traditional carols done the Highland way with pipes and drums.

His step-daughter Hollie Smith appears on a couple of his albums, lending her smooth voice to some emotional songs.
