The scene opens to Dr. Mina Abadi and Methos standing before a large, gated building. A legend at the bottom of the screen appears and reads:
“Museum Warehouse, Modern Cairo”
We hear a guard’s voice over a P.A. system announcing their arrival.
Guard: “Open the gates, it’s Dr. Abadi.”
The front gate opens and we see the interior of a large warehouse, stocked to the rafters with ancient relics. At the rear of the warehouse is the sarcophagus of the Pharaoh Djer. The Scarab of Swords is propped against a wall nearby.
Mina watches as Methos removes the lid off the standing sarcophagus. The two then back away.
Mina: “Oh my god . . .”
We see a dazed and bedraggled Djer, clothed in tattered and worn rags, stumble out and fall to his knees with his arms crossed.
Methos: “Djer!”
Djer: “. . . Methos . . .”
Methos: “It’s been a long time, but I’m ready now to give you what you wanted.”
Methos pulls out one of Djer’s twin swords from the Scarab and holds it over the Pharaoh’s neck.
Methos: “Your punishment is at an end, and now it’s ---“
Methos suddenly falls to the floor after Mina knocks him over the head with a stone relic.
Mina: “What on earth is going on?! . . .”
Muttering Methos’ name repeatedly, Djer slowly gets to his feet.
Mina: “. . . And how did you get in there?”
Djer mutters Methos’ name one last time, then reaches for the Scarab to pull out the remaining sword.
Mina: “What do you think you’re doing?!”
Methos puts his hand to his head, bleeding profusely from a wound, and shakily gets back up on his feet. Djer and Methos advance towards each other with raised swords.
Mina: “What’s wrong with you people?!”
The two Immortals clash swords and the battle begins. As their blades meet, sparks fly and the two stare at each other with intense animosity in their eyes.
Mina: “Guard!”
Methos and Djer continue to battle heatedly, neither two saying a word as each seeks to destroy the other.
Guard: “Don’t move or I’ll shoot!”
The two madmen pay no heed and the guard levels his pistol and fires. The bullet flies through the air in slowed motion and strikes Methos in the left arm. Methos cries out in pain and blood flows from the gunshot wound. Djer stops his attack and backs away. Breathing heavily and glancing around uncertainly, he addresses his foe.
Djer: “May Anubis spare your life . . . until I have the opportunity to take it!”
He flees towards some side doors in the warehouse and flings them open.
Mina: “Stop the other one! He’s getting away!”
Djer pauses as he is confronted by modern Cairo street traffic. As vehicles rush past, the camera zooms in on Djer’s face, before the scene fades to black. We then hear Methos’ voice.
Methos: “This is not good . . .”
The following words appear on the screen:
THE PHARAOH DJER HAS ESCAPED. END OF SEASON ONE.
